President Nicușor Dan Meets Former U.S. Diplomats in New York

President Nicușor Dan met with former United States ambassadors and diplomatic officials in New York on September 21, ahead of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The discussion, hosted by Alianta, brought together former U.S. ambassadors to Romania and other European nations, Romanian government officials, and private-sector representatives.

The participants focused on Romania's strategic role on NATO's Eastern Flank, defense cooperation, and the expansion of American economic investment in Romania. President Dan described the Romania–US partnership as an "enduring achievement" and emphasized the country's commitment to regional security and multilateral cooperation in response to Russia's war against Ukraine.

Former U.S. Ambassador Adrian Zuckerman noted that the meeting occurred at a consequential moment for the transatlantic alliance. Zuckerman stated that Romania intends to be a "contributor, not a spectator" regarding the security of the eastern flank.
