Ireland Deports 43 Georgian Nationals via Chartered Flight
Ireland deported 43 Georgian nationals from Dublin to Tbilisi on Sunday as part of a series of charter operations to enforce immigration rules.
The Irish government deported 43 Georgian nationals on a chartered flight from Dublin Airport to Tbilisi on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The group included 33 men, seven women, and three children from a single family. Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan issued 42 deportation orders under the Immigration Act 1999 and one return decision under the International Protection Act 2026.
An Garda Síochána executed the operation through the Garda National Immigration Bureau, using a flight provided by Air Partner Ltd. The operation cost €225,575 excluding VAT. Police confirmed that four of the deported men had previous criminal convictions in Ireland.
This event marked the sixth charter deportation operation of the year, bringing the 2026 total to 221 people removed via charter flights. O'Callaghan stated that deportations are essential to ensure the immigration system is not undermined and remains rules-based. Minister of State for Migration Colm Brophy described such operations as a necessary part of immigration and asylum procedures.
