British Airways Expands Latin America Capacity and Resumes Tanzania Flights

British Airways announced a significant expansion of its global network, headlined by a 25% increase in flight capacity to Latin America starting March 28, 2027. The airline will introduce daily non-stop service from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires and Santiago using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. It will also transition routes to San Jose and Bridgetown to year-round operations and establish a dedicated daily route to Rio de Janeiro, removing the previous onward connection to Buenos Aires.

In East Africa, the carrier will resume flights to Tanzania in May 2027 after a 13-year absence. From May 29 through October 31, flights will operate three times weekly from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro with onward service to Zanzibar. Other summer 2027 updates include increasing Cape Town service to 10 flights per week and adding a flight to Las Vegas.

Further network growth includes a new four-times-weekly service from London Gatwick to Saint Lucia, with previous connections to Grenada, Guyana, and Tobago now routed via Barbados. The airline also plans to launch services to Colombo in October 2026 and Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur in January 2027.
