Ubisoft Adds New Game Plus and Weapon Toggle to Black Flag Remake

Ubisoft is developing a New Game Plus mode and a blowpipe visibility toggle for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced following strong first-week sales.

Ubisoft has announced several updates for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced following the title's strong launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game sold over 3 million copies within its first week of release on July 9, including 2 million copies on the first day. Despite this success, the remake faced initial criticism regarding $80 power-boosting DLC and the visual positioning of the protagonist's blowpipe weapon.

Game director Richard Knight confirmed that a senior programmer is currently implementing a toggle to allow players to hide the blowpipe. Knight attributed the missing feature to the complexities of character model setup and event triggers. Additionally, Knight confirmed that a New Game Plus mode is in production to enhance replayability, with plans to provide players with additional rewards for using the mode.

Knight stated that while team members have ideas for further downloadable content, the current priority is updating the core game and balancing future plans. He expressed uncertainty regarding a potential remake of the Freedom Cry expansion, noting that the project would be a significant undertaking and that the team's focus remains on the character Edward Kenway. The development team is also reviewing community requests for missing combat features from the original game, though the return of enemy weapon pickups remains unconfirmed.
