Jet2 Bans Fuel Surcharges Until Summer 2028
Jet2 has pledged to eliminate fuel surcharges on all bookings until summer 2028 and announced lightweight seat upgrades for its Airbus A321neo fleet.
Jet2 has pledged not to introduce fuel surcharges on flight and holiday bookings until at least summer 2028. To ensure price certainty for customers, the airline removed the contractual clause that allows for such charges, meaning the price paid at the time of booking remains final regardless of rising global oil prices linked to conflict in the Middle East.
This guarantee applies across all booking channels, including independent travel agents and the company's mobile app. The decision follows the implementation of fuel surcharges by other carriers, such as Virgin Atlantic, which introduced fees in April ranging from £50 in economy to £360 in business class.
In addition to the pricing guarantee, the airline announced it will install new lightweight seats on its Airbus A321neo aircraft starting in 2027 to upgrade the passenger experience. Jet2 operated 30 A321neo aircraft by mid-2026 and expects 124 more deliveries by 2035. The A321neo model reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat by over 20% compared to older aircraft.
