Huawei Forecasts 27 Trillion Dollar AI Economic Value by 2031

Huawei launched an online event on September 16, 2026, to release two research reports focusing on the future of global intelligence and digitalization. The first report, Intelligent World 2035: Turning Vision into Action, outlines ten directions for an intelligent world and emphasizes a transition toward agentic AI, where autonomous agents make real-time decisions based on environmental perception.

Huawei predicts that global annual token consumption will increase 100,000-fold by 2035. This growth will require extensive upgrades to cloud, networking, and computing infrastructure, specifically through the adoption of SuperPoD computing systems. David Wang, who authored the report's foreword, identified agentic AI as a key variable in industrial transformation.

The second report, developed with the Institute of Economics at Tsinghua University, forecasts that AI will generate more than 27 trillion US dollars in cumulative economic value over the next five years. It further projects that global investment in digital infrastructure will exceed 4 trillion US dollars by 2030. This report includes an index of 90 countries categorized as Builder, Adopter, or Frontrunner to assist policymakers in creating development pathways.
