Elon Musk Lives in Trailer to Oversee xAI Expansion

Elon Musk is currently living in an Airstream trailer in Memphis to oversee the expansion of Colossus, a massive supercomputer center operated by his company, xAI. During a taping of the All-In podcast, Musk referred to the trailer as his "palace" while he manages the infrastructure buildout, which includes the development of a fourth data center named Minihard.

The Colossus facility provides the computing power for xAI's large language model, Grok. The center has generated billions in revenue through agreements to provide excess capacity to Google and Anthropic.

SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell described the living arrangement as part of a career-long pattern of total commitment to his projects. Shotwell noted that Musk has previously slept on factory floors and in offices during critical production phases at Tesla and X.
