Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma Accused of Slapping Youth

Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh allegedly slapped a young man, identified as Sahib Singh, during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar on September 27, 2026. The altercation occurred after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh questioned the quality of a newly laid road by physically pulling up portions of the surface. Sahib Singh, who manages social media for the MLA, was recording the interaction when the minister allegedly snatched his phone and assaulted him.

Sahib Singh filed an FIR, alleging that the minister and his associates beat and threatened to kill him in the presence of police personnel. AAP leaders, including Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bhardwaj, condemned the action as thuggery and demanded the minister's arrest and suspension. During subsequent protests demanding an FIR against the minister, Delhi Police detained Saurabh Bhardwaj and MLA Kuldeep Kumar.

Parvesh Sahib Singh denied the allegations, claiming the viral video lacked context and that he reacted after AAP workers verbally abused him and his family. He further accused Jarnail Singh of demanding commissions from road contractors and officials, stating that the government would conduct independent audits of the road works. He also noted that an FIR had been filed against the MLA for obstructing public works.
