Bengaluru Authorities Seal Zepto Warehouse Over Food Safety Violations
The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department sealed a Zepto warehouse in Bengaluru Rural after finding unhygienic food handling and misbranding violations.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department sealed a Zepto warehouse operated by Nippon Express in the Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district on August 11. Acting under the guidance of Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader, officials cited unhygienic food handling, misbranding, and non-compliant labelling as the primary reasons for the closure. The department issued a formal notice to the warehouse and recommended legal action before an Adjudicating Officer.
In a separate enforcement action, Zepto was fined 25,000 rupees for cleanliness failures at a facility in Thanisandra. These penalties are part of a wider crackdown across Bengaluru, where 30 inspection teams targeted various hotels. This broader drive resulted in the seizure of 15 litres of used cooking oil and over 100 kg of spoiled food contaminated by fungal growth and expiration.
