Saudi Arabia Pledges $100 Million More for Sudan Peace

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed al-Khuraiji reaffirmed support for the Sudanese government and provided $100 million in additional humanitarian aid during a peace coordination meeting.

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed al-Khuraiji reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for the Sudanese government and the Sovereignty Council during the sixth consultative meeting on coordinating peace initiatives for Sudan on Wednesday. Al-Khuraiji rejected the legitimacy of parallel entities and militias, stating they cannot be equated with official state institutions.

He emphasized a commitment to securing a ceasefire and preserving the unity of Sudan based on the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan. To address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, Saudi Arabia provided $100 million in aid as part of the 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan. This latest contribution brings the total Saudi assistance to over $3.2 billion.

On the sidelines of the meeting, al-Khuraiji met with representatives from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland to discuss regional security and ongoing peace efforts in Sudan.
