Egypt and Algeria Condemn Attack on Medina Power Station

Egypt and Algeria condemned a strike on a power distribution station in Medina, Saudi Arabia, calling the attack a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law.

The Government of Saudi Arabia experienced an attack on a power distribution station in Medina on Thursday, targeting a vital civilian facility that provides essential services to residents and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque.

Egypt condemned the incident as a flagrant violation and a dangerous escalation. In an official statement, Egypt rejected attempts to destabilize the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, asserting that the stability of the Kingdom is inextricably linked to Egyptian national security and the broader Arab national security framework.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria also strongly condemned the strike, describing it as a "hostile act" that violates international law. Algerian officials noted that targeting critical infrastructure in Medina is particularly provocative given the city's global religious significance to Muslims. Algeria called for an immediate end to such attacks to protect Saudi sovereignty and prevent further regional escalation.
