SpaceX Targets $1 Trillion Revenue Through AI and Chip Fabrication

SpaceX is scaling AI operations and funding a semiconductor project to reach a projected $1 trillion in revenue by 2030.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is pursuing a long-term strategy to reach $1 trillion in revenue by 2030 through the expansion of AI operations, satellite broadband, and vertical integration of hardware. Recent financial data shows the company's AI revenue grew 247% year-over-year to $2.6 billion in the second quarter, with adjusted EBITDA shifting from a $276 million loss to a $1.15 billion profit.

To support these growth targets, the company is funding the initial phase of Terrafab, a semiconductor fabrication project backed by Tesla and Intel. The project aims to use Intel's 14A processing technology to reduce reliance on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and is estimated to cost up to $119 billion by its 2028 completion. SpaceX is also working to implement dual-stage recovery for its Starship rocket by 2027 to improve launch economics and eventually phase out the Falcon 9.

Market analysts suggest a potential share price increase to $190 by the end of 2026, which would value the company at approximately $2.58 trillion. This valuation would require 2027 revenues of roughly $136 billion. Amidst these expansions, speculation has emerged regarding a potential merger between SpaceX and Tesla to consolidate their shared interests in robotics, transport, and artificial intelligence.
