Apple Releases iOS 27.2 Beta and Skips Version 27.1

Apple Inc. released the first developer betas for iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 on September 16, 2026, just two days after the official launch of iOS 27. The company skipped the expected iOS 27.1 beta, a version intended for the iPhone Duo hardware scheduled for release in October. Apple announced that developers will receive tools to optimize apps for the iPhone Duo display by the end of September.

The iOS 27.2 update, a 22GB download, introduces a redesigned Health app featuring AI-powered insights. It also expands the capabilities of Siri AI, which currently offers personal context understanding and onscreen awareness in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled to arrive in October. The update may also reintroduce features previously removed from the final iOS 27 release, including automatic compromised password fixes and Messages reply suggestions.

Following the release, Tenorshare Co. Ltd. promoted its ReiBoot utility as a way for users to downgrade from iOS 27 to iOS 26.7 without losing data, contrasting its tool with Apple's official recovery mode, which wipes all device data.
