Applied Digital Expands AI Data Centers Amid Debt Concerns

Applied Digital Corporation is scaling its data center infrastructure to meet AI demand while facing investor scrutiny over billions in high-interest debt.

Applied Digital Corporation is expanding its data center infrastructure to keep pace with surging demand for artificial intelligence computing. The company is developing multiple projects, including Polaris Forge 1, which currently provides 100 megawatts of computing power and is planned for expansion to 400 megawatts. Additionally, the company is building Polaris Forge 2 to provide another 200 megawatts of capacity.

To support these operations, the company has secured long-term 15-year leases and has contracted the Polaris Forge 1 facility to CoreWeave Inc. Despite these strategic gains, investors have raised concerns regarding the company's aggressive approach to financing. In the second quarter, Applied Digital Corporation raised 2.35 billion dollars at an interest rate of 9.25 percent.

Financial analysts remain optimistic about the company's growth potential, setting a one-year average price target of 45.27 dollars. This target represents a nearly 60 percent upside from its current trading price of 28.50 dollars.
