OpenAI and Anthropic File for $60 Billion IPOs
OpenAI and Anthropic filed confidentially for initial public offerings seeking to raise $60 billion each and achieve valuations over $1 trillion.
Two leading artificial intelligence firms, OpenAI and Anthropic, filed confidentially for initial public offerings in early June 2026. Both companies reportedly seek to raise approximately $60 billion each, with target valuations exceeding $1 trillion.
According to an analysis by Deutsche Bank, the financial performance of the two rivals differs significantly. Anthropic reported a revenue run rate of $47 billion in late May 2026, whereas OpenAI is estimated to generate between $25 billion and $33 billion. Despite these figures, OpenAI has reportedly considered delaying its listing due to the high stakes and complexities involved in the process.
Deutsche Bank characterizes these potential debuts as a turning point for the artificial intelligence industry. The bank asserts that public listings will enforce greater transparency regarding corporate governance and the status of ongoing copyright lawsuits.
While the transition to public companies would provide liquid stock to aid in acquisitions and talent recruitment, Deutsche Bank warns that these listings are expected to increase political scrutiny. This scrutiny would likely focus on the environmental and social impacts of expanding data centers as well as concerns regarding job security resulting from AI integration.
