Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 8 Lineup in London

Samsung Electronics unveiled its 2026 foldable smartphone lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. The company also introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9, both featuring AI-powered health tracking and updated batteries. All new devices are scheduled for global release on August 7.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 marks a design shift toward a wider 4:3 "passport-style" aspect ratio to attract mainstream users, featuring a 7.6-inch inner AMOLED screen. While it is Samsung's lightest book-style foldable at 201g, the new form factor removes S Pen support, Flex Mode, and the telephoto lens. It starts at $1,899.99.

The premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra maintains a taller, productivity-focused design with an 8-inch inner display and a 200MP main camera. It introduces a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, and a redesigned Armor Flex hinge with a titanium alloy support layer. For professional videographers, the Ultra model adds the APV codec and Cine LUT for cinematic color grading. The Ultra model starts at $2,099.99, representing a $100 price increase over the previous generation.

Both Fold 8 models utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and Flex Titanium display technology to minimize screen creases. Samsung timed these releases to capture market share before Apple is expected to ship its first foldable iPhone in September 2026.
