Justice Department Ends Campaign Finance Probe Into Andy Ogles

The United States Department of Justice dropped a two-year criminal investigation into Representative Andy Ogles over campaign finance fraud allegations.

The United States Department of Justice has concluded a criminal investigation into Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles that lasted nearly two years. The probe centered on campaign finance fraud related to Ogles' 2022 congressional bid, specifically regarding a reported loan to his campaign that he initially claimed was $320,000 before later amending the figure to $20,000.

As part of the resolution, the federal government agreed to return or destroy evidence previously seized from the phone and email of Andy Ogles. Ogles characterized the closure of the case as a correction of overreach by the previous administration, attributing the decision to the Trump Justice Department.

Despite the end of the criminal probe, Ogles remains under investigation by the United States House Committee on Ethics. The congressional panel previously determined there was substantial reason to believe the representative violated federal campaign finance laws by inflating his fundraising totals.
