Neha Bora Demands Amit Shah's Resignation After Police Crackdown

Student leader Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students' Association (AISA), is demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the removal of Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar Misra. Bora alleges that security forces used excessive force, including pellet guns, tear gas, and nail-covered sticks, during a July 20 march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament. She claims these actions caused fractured limbs, loss of vision, and a forced stampede after protesters were trapped by barricades.

Bora's campaign follows a 23-day hunger strike she led to protest a "NEET fiasco," which resulted in the July 25 resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the passing of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill. While the central government and Delhi Police deny the allegations of misconduct and assert that personnel acted lawfully, Bora argues that political responsibility for the violence rests with the Home Minister.

Supported by opposition parties including the Congress, the movement—originally spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party—has evolved from a demand for education reform into a broader campaign against state repression. Bora has since traveled to Patna and Siwan in Bihar to advocate for the release of over 600 arrested students, some of whom face attempt-to-murder charges.
