Meta Unveils Muse AI Agent and New Wearable Ecosystem

Meta launched the Muse AI agent alongside camera-free smart glasses, lightweight VR glasses, and a handheld AI device to reduce reliance on smartphone platforms.

At its annual Connect conference in Menlo Park, Meta Platforms, Inc. unveiled a comprehensive AI-driven hardware and software ecosystem centered on Muse, a personal AI agent. Designed to perform real-world tasks like booking appointments and shopping, Muse will be integrated into a new suite of wearables, including the Muse Charm, a keychain-sized handheld device arriving in December.

To address intense privacy backlash and lawsuits alleging unauthorized recording—which led critics to label previous models pervert glasses—Meta introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses. These camera-free devices, priced at $349, focus on audio and AI capabilities. Simultaneously, the company launched the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta camera glasses and announced FDA-cleared hearing enhancement features for its eyewear, functioning as over-the-counter hearing aids for mild to moderate loss.

Meta also debuted its Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight 100-gram device priced at $1,299. Scheduled for spring 2027, the glasses offload processing to a tethered computing puck and feature IMAX Enhanced certification for cinematic experiences. This strategic pivot toward owning its hardware ecosystem aims to decrease consumer reliance on Apple and Google operating systems. While Meta has secured partnerships with retailers like Walmart and Shopify, Amazon has blocked Muse AI bots from performing automatic shopping for users.
