Norway and Denmark Release June Consumer Inflation Data

Statistics Norway and Statistics Denmark reported June inflation figures, showing an unexpected drop in Norway and stable rates in Denmark.

Scandinavian inflation data released on July 10, 2026, revealed diverging trends in Norway and Denmark. Statistics Norway reported an unexpected drop in consumer price inflation to a four-month low of 2.7 percent year-on-year for June, falling short of market expectations of 3.2 percent and down from 3.1 percent in May. While costs for health, transportation, food, and non-alcoholic beverages eased, housing and utility costs climbed to 3.4 percent. Norway's core inflation, excluding energy and tax changes, rose to 3.4 percent.

In contrast, Statistics Denmark reported that consumer price inflation remained stable at 1.9 percent year-over-year for June, matching the May rate. Monthly prices in Denmark increased by 0.2 percent, a slowdown from the 0.6 percent rise in the previous month. Danish data showed a moderation in transportation price growth to 4.5 percent and a deepening deflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages to 0.9 percent, while core inflation rose to 2.3 percent from 2.1 percent.
