Namibia Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices Starting November 4
Namibia will increase petrol prices by N$2 and diesel by N$3 per litre due to rising shipping costs and a weakening exchange rate.
Namibia will implement fuel price increases starting Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Petrol prices will rise by N$2 per litre and diesel by N$3 per litre, according to an announcement by Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy Modestus Amutse.
Amutse attributed the hikes to a 40% increase in shipping costs and a 64% rise in ship waiting costs, alongside a weakening exchange rate. These factors offset a slight decrease in international fuel costs. In Walvis Bay, petrol will cost N$28.58 per litre, while diesel (50ppm) and diesel (10ppm) will be N$30.86 and N$30.96 respectively.
To mitigate the impact on consumers, the National Energy Fund will continue to absorb 81 cents per litre for petrol and 52 cents for diesel. The fund is expected to pay approximately N$384 million to cover under-recoveries from October. The ministry warned that the fund has been under extreme stress since April and could be depleted without these price adjustments.
