Ford Recalls 148,663 Mustangs Over Wiring Harness Defects

Ford Motor Company is recalling 148,663 Mustang vehicles in the United States from the 2024-2026 model years. The recall stems from defective ground connections in the engine compartment wiring harness, which the company has identified under internal recall number 26C40.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that these connections may break, potentially leading to a loss of drive power. The defect could also disable critical vehicle functions, including headlights, windshield washers, air conditioning, and the engine cooling fan, which increases the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will replace the wiring harness ground terminals free of charge. Vehicle owners are expected to receive notification letters this week, though the company indicates that repairs will not be available until March.
