Sharjah Book Authority Secures Exclusive BookXcess Rights for Africa and Middle East

The Sharjah Book Authority signed an agreement with BookXcess Malaysia to develop and operate bookstores across the Middle East and Africa via its Big Bad Wolf subsidiary.

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BookXcess Malaysia on July 13, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur to expand affordable book access across the Middle East and Africa. Under the agreement, the SBA secured exclusive rights to develop, operate, and manage BookXcess bookstores in these regions.

Big Bad Wolf Sharjah, a subsidiary of the SBA, will lead the operation, marketing, and delivery of the retail concept. The partnership aims to transform bookstores from traditional retail spaces into cultural destinations.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi led the Sharjah delegation to Malaysia to witness the signing. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the SBA, described the partnership as a milestone in the cultural project led by the Ruler of Sharjah, while BookXcess founder Andrew Yap noted the company's honor in bringing the brand's experience to these new markets.
