SoftBank and Oracle Partner for Sovereign Cloud in Japan

SoftBank Corp. and Oracle Corporation are launching a sovereign cloud and AI service in Japan starting April 2026 to ensure data sovereignty.

SoftBank Corp. and Oracle Corporation have established a strategic partnership to deploy sovereign cloud and artificial intelligence solutions across Japan. The collaboration utilizes the Oracle Alloy platform to provide secure, compliant services for Japanese businesses and public organizations under the brand Cloud PF Type A.

The offering includes over 200 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services, which will be hosted within SoftBank's domestic data centers. This infrastructure is designed to keep data within national borders and meet strict regulatory requirements.

Hayato Sakurai, Executive Vice President of SoftBank, stated that the initiative is intended to "promote the country's digital transformation by ensuring security, performance, and data sovereignty." The services are scheduled for official launch in April 2026.
