Alabama Officials Issue Final Deadlines for November 3 Election
Alabama election officials are reminding voters of strict absentee deadlines and photo ID requirements ahead of the November 3 gubernatorial and constitutional elections.
Election officials in Alabama are issuing final reminders regarding deadlines and requirements for the November 3 election, which includes the race for governor and several constitutional amendments.
Mark Erwin, the Mobile County Probate Judge, clarified that absentee voting is reserved for specific enumerated reasons, such as medical conditions or being out of the county, rather than general convenience. The deadline to apply for absentee voting in person passed on Thursday, October 29. For those voting by mail, ballots must be postmarked by Monday and delivered by Tuesday to be counted.
Jefferson County Board of Registrars Chair Barry Stephenson noted that voters must provide a valid photo ID on Election Day, such as a passport, military ID, or driver's license. While the photo must be accurate, the address on the identification does not need to match the voter registration system. Voters listed as inactive may still cast their ballots by completing a voter update form at their polling place.
