Republicans Hold Fundraising Lead in Mahoning Valley Races
Republican incumbents in Ohio's Mahoning Valley significantly outraised Democratic challengers in pregeneral election finance reports, with one exception in an open seat.
Republican incumbents in the Mahoning Valley hold substantial financial advantages over Democratic challengers according to pregeneral election finance reports filed with the Office of the Ohio Secretary of State. The reports, covering the period from June 6 to October 14, show that most Republican candidates secured significantly more funding, largely through political action committees and party campaign arms.
Nick Santucci, running unopposed for the 64th House seat, raised the most funds at $118,120. Other Republican leaders include State Senator Al Cutrona, who raised $98,350 compared to Democrat Michael Kripchak's $33,464, and State Representative Tex Fischer, who raised $90,954 while Democrat Wayne Penny filed no reports. In the 65th House District, Republican David Thomas raised $82,988, outperforming Democrat John Barbo's $30,237.
The only exception to the Republican financial lead occurred in the 58th House District, the region's only open seat. Democrat John Boccieri outraised Republican Heather Fronk, securing $45,465 against her $22,800.
