Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Pilots Union Reach Labor Agreement

Deutsche Lufthansa AG and the German pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit reached an agreement in principle to resolve long-standing labor disputes through a framework of arbitration and mediation. The deal covers Lufthansa's core airline, Lufthansa Cargo, CityLine, and Eurowings, with the primary goal of reducing the risk of future strikes.

The agreement includes exit clauses for both parties if the mediation process fails to meet its objectives. This resolution follows a period of significant operational instability, most notably six consecutive days of strikes in April over contract issues and pensions.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG reported that these labor disruptions cost the group nearly 200 million euros in the first half of the year. The new framework aims to stabilize operations by providing a structured path to settlement rather than industrial action.
