Huawei Unveils Atlas 950 SuperPoD for Trillion-Parameter AI

Huawei announced the Atlas 950 SuperPoD and the Peerium Computing Architecture during its HUAWEI CONNECT event on September 17, 2026. The Peerium architecture introduces UnifiedBus interconnect technology, which allows up to one million processors to operate as a single computer by replacing traditional master-slave designs.

The Atlas 950 SuperPoD, powered by the Ascend 950 chip, is built to support foundation AI models containing 10 to 40 trillion parameters. The company is currently testing a SuperCluster with 256,000 computing cards, and expects large-scale supply of Ascend 950DT training chips by late 2026 or early 2027.

Rotating Chairman Eric Xu stated that Ascend has surpassed NVIDIA within the Chinese market and argued that full semiconductor self-sufficiency is an inevitable path for the country. While Huawei provides limited supply to some international markets, high domestic demand means the company has no plans for a full-fledged global expansion of the SuperPoD.
