Houthi Fighters Kill Yemen Interior Ministry Major General
Houthi fighters killed Major General Mohammed Salem Abdullah al-Khawlani during intense clashes in Yemen's Taiz province.
Houthi fighters killed Major General Mohammed Salem Abdullah al-Khawlani, the chief of staff of the Interior Ministry’s Emergency Forces, during clashes in the southwestern province of Taiz. The Interior Ministry confirmed that al-Khawlani died while fighting on the Al-Kadaha front.
His death marks the loss of the highest-ranking security official since a military escalation began in July. The killing occurred amid a surge of intense battles and government airstrikes across multiple fronts in Taiz, including Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, and Al-Misrakh.
This engagement is part of a broader conflict that began in 2014 when Houthi forces seized Sanaa, prompting a 2015 intervention by a Saudi-led coalition to support the internationally recognized government.
