Sequoia Capital Flattens Partnership and Closes London Office
Sequoia Capital is restructuring its partner hierarchy and closing its London office to reduce bureaucracy and prioritize founder-led decision-making.
Sequoia Capital announced a structural overhaul on Wednesday designed to eliminate management hierarchy and reduce bureaucracy within its investing team. The venture capital firm is flattening its partner structure and canceling its recurring Monday partner meeting cycle to shift toward concentrated, founder-led decision-making.
As part of a strategic refocus on its San Francisco Bay Area headquarters, the firm is closing its London office, which has resulted in some employee departures. Sequoia is also sunsetting its batch accelerator and Scouts programs. The firm noted that while its expansion over the last two decades required operational management, this growth created an unintended side effect of management creep into the partner side of the business.
This restructuring follows a leadership transition in late 2025. Alfred Lin and Pat Grady assumed co-steward roles after Roelof Botha stepped down from the position.
