Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia and Türkiye will establish diplomatic relations based on mutual recognition of sovereignty and borders.
Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, expressed confidence that Armenia and Türkiye will establish diplomatic relations in the near future. Speaking at the third World Armenian Summit 2026, Pashinyan stated that the normalization of ties will be predicated on both nations recognizing each other's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and borders.
Addressing concerns regarding border security and whether Türkiye recognizes Armenia's territorial integrity, Pashinyan asserted that there is not a single objective fact indicating that such a problem exists. He maintained that the establishment of these relations is a goal both sides are moving toward, though formal diplomatic ties have not yet been established.
