Iran Increases Attack Drone Production Tenfold After 2025 Conflict

Brigadier General Alireza Sheikh, deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, announced on April 16, 2026, that Iran increased its attack drone production rate tenfold in the seven months following a June 2025 war. Sheikh stated that the Iranian Armed Forces used lessons from that 12-day conflict to expand drone capabilities and disrupt enemy defense calculations.

The June conflict followed a February 28 attack by the United States and Israel. In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4, a series of retaliatory strikes utilizing ballistic missiles and drones. These operations targeted Israeli positions and United States military bases across West Asia, marking a significant escalation in regional hostilities.

Sheikh characterized the resulting shift in the balance of power as a strategic victory. He asserted that the expanded drone fleet and the success of Operation True Promise 4 altered the security landscape, effectively forcing the United States to the negotiating table in Islamabad to discuss Iranian requests and demands.

According to Sheikh, these developments have allowed the Islamic Republic of Iran to create a new literature in the field of defense and security. The increased production is intended to serve as a deterrent and a tool for diplomatic leverage in future interactions with Western powers.
