Samsung Delays One UI 9 Rollout for Galaxy S26

Samsung Electronics began the global rollout of One UI 9, a software update based on Android 17 for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update first debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 before moving to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. However, the company subsequently delayed the S26 series rollout by one week, shifting the expected release from September 21 to September 28. This adjustment aligns the S26 release with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z 7 series, likely to allow for bug fixes following the software's initial release in Korea.

The update introduces several AI-powered tools, including My FanCam for automatic subject tracking in videos, Now Nudge for contextual app and conversation suggestions, and Creative Studio for event-based image generation. Productivity features include Now Brief with editable generative cards, a Thread View for the Interpreter tool, and enhanced Document Scanner and Voice Recorder capabilities.

Security enhancements include a Security Brief and Privacy Alerts to flag malware and suspicious background permissions, alongside an expanded Scam Detection tool. Samsung also added a Warranty and Care section in Settings for diagnostics and repair estimates. While the rollout has started globally, including expected availability in India, feature availability will vary by device, market, and language.
