President Isaac Herzog Warns Against Election Violence

President Isaac Herzog delivered a special address to the nation on Tuesday evening warning of internal and external threats to the integrity of the fall Knesset elections. The address followed a briefing with the Israel Security Agency head David Zini, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, and the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee.

Hertzog called for a unified front among law enforcement and security bodies to protect the democratic process. He specifically urged candidates, elected representatives, and citizens to avoid violence and polarization, stating that "elections are not a civil war."

Timing his remarks to the eve of the Tisha B'Av fast, the president emphasized the historical dangers of national division. He advised Israelis to exercise caution with social media content and maintain mutual respect throughout the electoral period.
