AI Job Postings in India Surge 112 Percent
Apna reports a 112.4 percent increase in AI-related job postings in India, with demand shifting toward Tier-3 cities and mainstream professional roles.
Job postings requiring artificial intelligence skills in India grew by 112.4 percent year-on-year during the first quarter of Financial Year 2027. According to the Bharat@79 report released by Apna, demand for AI capabilities is expanding beyond specialized technology roles into mainstream positions, including teaching, business development, digital marketing, and graphic design. Employers are increasingly integrating AI requirements into existing job descriptions rather than hiring for dedicated AI roles.
Hiring growth is diversifying geographically, with Tier-3 markets seeing a 30.6 percent year-on-year increase in postings, outpacing growth in Tier-2 and Tier-1 cities. Emerging cities such as Guwahati, Varanasi, and Dehradun showed significant growth. The quick commerce sector also experienced a 60.3 percent rise in job postings.
Gen Z candidates drove the majority of this activity, accounting for 72.9 percent of all applications during the quarter. Kartik Narayan, CEO of Apna, noted that opportunity is spreading into emerging markets while AI changes the skills required for everyday jobs.
