Ahold Delhaize Shuts Down Hannaford Digital Systems After Cyber Incident
Ahold Delhaize disabled Hannaford's website and mobile app following a network security incident, though physical stores remain open and no data theft has been confirmed.
The Netherlands-based parent company Ahold Delhaize intentionally took critical digital systems offline on October 12 and 13, 2026, following a network security incident. The shutdown disabled the Hannaford website, mobile app, and the Hannaford To Go pickup and delivery service to protect network infrastructure while security teams worked to resolve the issue.
Physical Hannaford stores and pharmacies remain open for in-person shopping. The company is refunding all unfulfilled online orders and has begun controlled relaunches of some systems, though it has not provided a specific timeline for full restoration. Ahold Delhaize stated that there is currently no evidence that customer or associate data was taken during the incident.
The company is working with external cybersecurity experts and relevant authorities to investigate the breach. This event follows previous cyberattacks on the organization in 2008 and November 2024, the latter of which affected more than 2 million people worldwide.
