Dangote Refinery Expands Free Fuel Delivery to Four More States

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals expanded its free petroleum delivery program to four additional Nigerian states to lower pump prices and reduce marketer costs.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals expanded its free petroleum product delivery initiative to include Kano, Imo, Anambra, and Nasarawa states. The program previously served Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory. By absorbing transportation costs typically paid by independent marketers, the refinery aims to lower petrol pump prices for consumers.

Fatima Aliko Dangote stated that the goal is to ensure the value of domestic refining is felt beyond the refinery gate by removing distribution burdens. The refinery, which possesses a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day, is implementing these measures as Nigeria's downstream sector adjusts to deregulation and increased domestic capacity.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria welcomed the expansion. Chinedu Ukadike noted that the move alleviates financial pressures and improves cash flow for marketers who previously faced high haulage costs and long delays in loading products.
