Zurich Insurance Reports 13% Profit Rise and Pursues Beazley Acquisition

Zurich Insurance Group reported a first-half 2026 profit increase of 13% while progressing toward an $11 billion acquisition of Beazley Plc.

Zurich Insurance Group AG reported a 13% increase in profit for the first half of 2026, with group operating profit reaching $4.77 billion and net income rising 14% to $3.49 billion. The company attributed this growth to accelerating demand across all business lines, with significant contributions from energy infrastructure and global data centers linked to artificial intelligence demand.

The insurer is currently pursuing an $11 billion acquisition of specialty insurer Beazley Plc. The deal received approval from the Beazley board in March and is expected to close during the second half of the year.

Despite strong performance in its property and casualty unit, the company's Farmers unit reported operating profit below analyst estimates. Additionally, Zurich is managing an enforcement proceeding by the Swiss regulator Finma, which resulted in the termination of more than 12 employees and a partial sales ban within its Swiss corporate life and pensions unit.
