Guam Election Commission Opens Early Voting Despite Typhoon Delay
The Guam Election Commission began early in-office absentee voting for the 2026 Primary Election on July 9 at the Westin Resort Guam.
The Guam Election Commission opened early in-office absentee voting for the 2026 Primary Election on July 9 at The Westin Resort Guam in Tumon. More than 200 ballots were collected on the first day, with some voters arriving as early as 5:30 a.m.
The start of the voting process followed a two-day delay caused by Super Typhoon Bavi. Despite the weather disruption, the primary election remains scheduled for August 1. To improve the process, the commission is introducing electronic poll books.
Officials are currently working with the Guam Department of Education to assess damages at 22 school-based polling sites. Early voting is scheduled to continue Tuesday through Saturday until July 25.
