Dangote Refinery Raises Diesel and Petrol Gantry Prices
Dangote Refinery increased diesel prices by N100 per litre and petrol by N20 per litre following a rise in international crude oil costs.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Fze increased the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) by N100 per litre on August 20, 2026. The price rose from N1,570 to N1,670, representing a 6.4 per cent increase. This adjustment follows a climb in international crude oil prices, with Brent crude reaching $94.13 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate hitting $87.13 per barrel.
The price hike is expected to drive retail diesel costs above the current N1,700 to N1,790 per litre range seen in cities such as Abuja and Lagos.
Additionally, the refinery raised its Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) gantry price by N20 per litre to N1,185, effective midnight on August 21, 2026. Despite the increase, the price remains below the N1,218 per litre landing cost for imports cited by the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria. The new rate also remains lower than prices quoted by competitors including Nipco and Integrated Oil and Gas.
