Bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh have deteriorated following a virtual media interaction on August 5, 2026, in which Sheikh Hasina defended her 15-year rule and criticized the current BNP-led government. The Government of Bangladesh condemned the appearance as an affront to its sovereignty and renewed demands for the former prime minister's extradition from India.
