Frank Chikane Denies Suing ANC Over Mayoral Candidacy

ANC veteran Frank Chikane dismissed reports that he is suing the African National Congress after his name was omitted from the Johannesburg mayoral candidate list submitted to the Independent Electoral Commission. Chikane, who was competing for the candidacy alongside incumbent mayor Dada Morero and deputy mayor Loyiso Masuku, described the claims as fake and an attempt to sow confusion within the party.

The African National Congress supported the denial, characterizing the reports as reckless and misleading. While the party rejected the claims regarding Chikane, it confirmed that it has received court papers from Andile Lungisa. Lungisa, a mayoral candidate hopeful for Nelson Mandela Bay, filed the legal action after his name was also left off the commission's lists.
