Georgia Records Historic Turnout in 2026 Midterm Elections
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger reported record turnout of 4.1 million voters and announced 20 risk-limiting audits to verify the results.
Georgia recorded a historic voter turnout during the 2026 midterm elections, with approximately 4.1 million ballots cast. Brad Raffensperger, the Secretary of State, reported that more than 2.8 million citizens utilized early or absentee voting, while roughly 1.3 million voted on Election Day.
Participation was heavy across both rural corridors and urban centers as voters cast ballots for all 14 of the state's congressional districts. Raffensperger characterized the high volume of participation as a sign that voters trust the election system and results, describing Georgia's election administration as the gold standard and a model for the nation.
While the final vote count remains pending, state election officials are initiating 20 risk-limiting audits to verify the results and ensure public confidence. These audits will cover all 14 congressional races and six statewide contests.
