Kevin O'Leary Shifts AI Strategy to Data Center Infrastructure
Kevin O'Leary prioritizes investments in land and power infrastructure for AI data centers and moves cash reserves into SEC-compliant stablecoins.
Investor and entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary detailed a strategic shift in his approach to artificial intelligence, focusing on the physical infrastructure required to support the technology. In an interview with MarketWatch, O'Leary explained that he avoids betting on specific AI software stacks, instead adopting a "picks-and-shovels" approach by investing in land and power infrastructure for data centers to meet an "insatiable" domestic demand.
O'Leary also revealed that O'Leary Ventures has transitioned its cash reserves into SEC-compliant stablecoins to achieve faster and more efficient transactions. He noted that Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to dominate 97.2% of the cryptocurrency market.
Regarding business management, O'Leary emphasized that entrepreneurs must master customer acquisition cost (CAC) and return on ad spend (ROAS) to avoid failure, while leveraging AI tools to lower content costs. He further reported that alternative assets, specifically sports collectibles and rare watches, have delivered some of his highest returns in 2026.
