The Procter & Gamble Company is acquiring supplement brand Thorne for $3.8 billion to expand its health and wellness division and attract younger consumers.
The Procter & Gamble Company is acquiring the supplement brand Thorne for $3.8 billion. CEO Shailesh Jejurikar announced the deal on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, stating the company is happy with the asset and describing it as a well-run operation.
The acquisition aims to expand the health and wellness division of the consumer goods giant and attract consumers under 40. Thorne, founded in 1984, reported annual revenue exceeding $500 million in 2025. The brand was previously taken private by L Catterton in 2023 in a deal valued at $680 million.
This move adds to a portfolio that includes Metamucil, Align Probiotic, and New Chapter. The purchase follows a broader industry trend of consumer goods companies purchasing upstart supplement brands, such as Unilever's recent acquisition of Grüns, as consumer interest in wellness products grows.
