Investors Debate AI Bubble and Robotics at SALT London

Finance executives at the SALT London conference debated whether the AI boom is a bubble and how robotics will impact future job creation.

Investors and finance executives gathered at the SALT London alternative investments conference in Mayfair to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the global labor market.

Jack Selby of Thiel Capital warned that the AI boom is a bubble that could burst before the end of 2026. He attributed this risk to the extreme capital intensity required for infrastructure and the use of "fanciful storytelling" to secure funding.

Other speakers offered more optimistic or divergent views. Stephanie Link of Hightower Advisors argued that demand for electrical grid upgrades and data centers will persist, predicting that cybersecurity will eventually grow into a larger sector than AI. Regarding employment, Nick Finegold of Curation Capital suggested that while some commoditized roles will disappear, the integration of AI and robotics could trigger the largest job creation program in history, potentially accelerated by a merger between SpaceX and Tesla.
