Hero Motors IPO Fully Subscribed on First Day of Bidding

Hero Motors launched a ₹1,000 crore initial public offering that was fully subscribed on its first day, driven largely by retail investor demand.

Hero Motors launched a ₹1,000 crore ($104.2 million) initial public offering on September 16, 2026, which was fully subscribed by the end of the first day of bidding. Exchange data shows the offering was subscribed 1.08 times, with retail investors driving the momentum by subscribing their portion 1.79 times. The IPO is priced between ₹79 and ₹84 per share, seeking a valuation of $401.16 million at the upper end of the band.

The offering consists of a ₹600 crore fresh issuance and a ₹400 crore offer-for-sale by promoters O P Munjal Holdings and Hero Cycles Limited. Before the public opening, the company secured ₹299.99 crore from anchor investors, including 3P India Equity Fund 1M and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company.

Hero Motors, which provides powertrain solutions for global clients such as BMW AG and Ducati Motor Holding S.P.A., plans to use ₹190 crore of the fresh proceeds to repay borrowings and ₹200 crore to expand its manufacturing facility in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Market reactions are mixed; Anand Rathi analysts recommend a long-term subscription, while SBI Securities maintains a neutral stance due to expensive valuations and high customer concentration.
