Governor Alex Otti Marks Abia State 35th Anniversary

Governor Alex Otti delivered a broadcast on August 27, 2026, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of Abia State. During the address, Otti honored the state's founding visionaries, including the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida and early political leader Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara.

Otti highlighted achievements from the last three years, including the construction of over 1,000 kilometers of roads, the expansion of primary healthcare facilities across 184 wards, and investments in smart schools. To address past injustices, the governor announced the start of payments for accumulated gratuity arrears dating back to 2001. He urged citizens to support further development through tax compliance and cooperation with security agents.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu commended the state for its democratic progress and security. Kalu specifically praised the establishment of an Air Force office in Umuahia and the state government's cooperation in approving Certificates of Occupancy for federal projects, such as the National Industrial Court and Renewed Hope Housing Projects.
