Tata Steel Sells Jamshedpur FC to Churchill Brothers for Rs 100

Tata Steel agreed to transfer its entire equity stake in Jamshedpur Football & Sporting Private Limited, the owner of Indian Super League club Jamshedpur FC, to Goa-based Churchill Brothers Football Club on August 14, 2026. The transaction involves the transfer of 4.08 crore shares and the club's ISL sporting licence for a token consideration of Rs 100.

Effective September 2026, Churchill Brothers will take over the contracts of 12 players and two coaches. This deal follows a previous announcement that Jamshedpur FC would withdraw from the ISL starting with the 2026-27 season. The transfer is subject to approval from the All India Football Federation and is expected to be finalized by August 31, 2026.

While exiting direct club ownership, Tata Steel intends to redirect its resources toward grassroots and youth football. The company will maintain its sporting infrastructure and the Tata Football Academy to support local and tribal communities in collaboration with the All India Football Federation.
