Economists Project Indonesia Trade Surplus to Hit $630 Million

Economists polled by Reuters project that Indonesia will record a trade surplus of approximately US$630 million for August. This forecast marks a significant increase from the July surplus of US$130 million, which followed two consecutive months of trade deficits.

While annual export growth for August is expected to slow to 4.30 per cent from 6.05 per cent in July, import growth is projected to accelerate to 31.14 per cent.

Regarding price stability, September headline inflation is expected to rise to 3.30 per cent from 3.19 per cent. This figure remains within the central bank's target range of 1.5 per cent to 3.5 per cent, while core inflation for September is forecast to remain stable at 2.91 per cent. Official data for these metrics is scheduled for release on October 1.
